Waiting at the port

Sun-
burnt skin —
    gazing with
        horizon eyes;
listlessly the tugboats sigh goodnight.

A Tetractys for Marion at toads

  1. Listlessly... nothing listless about this little verse.

  2. I used to think I would like to own a tugboat. My son dated a tugboat csptain, a lady, for a while. I learned a lot from her. I also have a friend whose father was a tugboat captain. The son has a lot of stories about tugboat life. Too, I read most of the "Tugboat Annie" serials in the old Saturday Evening Posts. Annie was rough.

  6. ahh, you paint an interesting picture .... I liked "horizon eyes" very much .... made me think of the day's end and sunsets and yet, tugboats don't necessarily rest up just because it gets dark .... all depends on place .... but I very much like the dream quality here ....
    and the form adds to this dimensionality ...
